PM Shehbaz rewards FIA, IB officers with shields, cash prizes for anti-trafficking efforts


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded the efforts of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) for efforts towards anti-trafficking crackdown.

PM Sharif was briefed on measures to prevent human trafficking. He commended the efforts of the law enforcement agencies in apprehending Jajja human trafficking gang including its ringleader Usman Jajja.

“Pakistan has been defamed due to elements involved in human trafficking,” Prime Minister Sharif said, adding, “People drowned in the sea in human trafficking and the country was defamed.”

He said that business of human trafficking should be completely eradicated. “I congratulate the team working to prevent human trafficking. [We] will provide full support to eliminate human trafficking,” he said.

The premier also directed that the relevant institutions should work round the clock to eliminate the heinous crime of human trafficking. “Everyone has to play their role in raising Pakistan’s name on the global stage. The officers who took action against human trafficking brought honor to the country,” PM Sharif said, adding that the relevant institutions should continue their high performance.

“The entire nation stands with the institutions in the action against human trafficking,” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif added.

The premier also awarded shields and Rs 1 million to each of the officers who performed well in this cause.
