PM Shehbaz Sharif proposes 19 names for federal cabinet

ISLAMABAD: In a significant development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has forwarded a list of 19 names to President Asif Ali Zardari for approval, marking a crucial step towards the formation of the federal cabinet.

The much-anticipated swearing-in ceremony is slated to take place today at the prestigious President’s House. As per the initial reports, no member of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has been considered for the federal cabinet. It is notable that the PPP had announced at the time of entering coalition with the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) that they will not become part of the federal government.

According to the contents of the letter dispatched by the Prime Minister to the President, prominent figures such as Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Tanveer, and Azam Nazeer Tarar are among those recommended for key ministerial positions. Other notable names proposed include Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Aleem Khan, and Jam Kamal, reflecting a diverse array of expertise and experience.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister has advocated for the appointment of individuals such as Engineer Amir Muqam, Owais Leghari, and Attaullah Tarar to vital ministerial roles.

In adherence to Clause 9 of Article 91 of the Constitution, Shehbaz Sharif has also put forward the nominations of seasoned individuals like Ishaq Dar, Musadik Malik, and Muhammad Aurangzeb for federal ministerial positions, alongside Ahad Cheema and Mohsin Naqvi.

Additionally, Shaza Fatima Khawaja’s name has been proposed for the position of Minister of State.
