PM Shehbaz to visit Kazakhstan for SCO summits tomorrow


Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to visit Kazakhstan on Wednesday to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and related side summits.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to visit Kazakhstan on Wednesday to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and related side summits.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, along with cabinet members and senior officials, will join PM Shehbaz at the SCO summits in Astana, Kazakhstan. The summits are scheduled to take place from Wednesday to Thursday.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said the Prime Minister will present Pakistan’s perspective on regional and global issues during his visit. He is also expected deliver a keynote address at the SCO Plus summit, advocating Pakistan’s positions and priorities within the SCO framework.

Kazakhstan ambassador calls on PM Shehbaz

Meanwhile, the ambassador of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kistafin met with PM Shehbaz on Monday to discuss deepening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

The PM received the Kazakh ambassador at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. During the meeting, Shehbaz extended his regards to Kazakhstani president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He also expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.

The PM said he expected a “productive meeting” with the Kazakhstani president during his upcoming visit to Astana for the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting.

Shehbaz discussed the importance of increasing trade and investment between the two countries, while discussing mutual security concerns. The PM and ambassador agreed on increasing regional connectivity.
