PM to honour martyred health workers

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced the posthumous conferment of the prestigious Tamgha-e-Imtiaz upon martyred doctors and healthcare workers who served patients during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a recent statement, PM Sharif paid tribute and stated that these dedicated individuals were the true heroes of the nation, as they lost their lives while fulfilling their responsibilities. He emphasized that the nation remains indebted to their unwavering commitment and sacrifice.

Highlighting the families of these fallen heroes as a source of national pride, the prime minister underscored the significance of their contributions to safeguarding public health.

The Tamgha-e-Imtiaz will be awarded to 81 doctors from Punjab, 87 from Sindh, 23 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eight from Balochistan, four from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and one doctor each from Gilgit and Islamabad. These medical professionals will be honored for their exceptional dedication and hard work in saving lives.

The commendable efforts of 57 nurses and frontline health workers from across Pakistan will also be recognized with this honour. The gesture stands as a tribute to their selflessness and courage amid the pandemic’s trials.
