PML-N failed to even secure a meeting with Imran Khan: Fawad Chaudhry

Former member of PTI Fawad Chaudhry, voiced his concerns regarding the party dynamics impacting Imran Khan and PTI.

KARACHI: Former member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Fawad Chaudhry, voiced his concerns and criticised both, PTI and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government for their recent actions.

Talking in a recent interview, Fawad Chaudhry lambasted the PML-N for its failure to facilitate a meeting with the former Prime Minister. “The PML-N has been unable to arrange a meeting with the founder of the PTI”.

He also raised questions about the legitimacy of the £190 million corruption case, asking “What benefits did the PTI founder derive from the £190 million pounds?”

He further criticised the political team supporting Imran Khan, suggesting they lack the necessary skills to navigate the current political landscape. He also indicated that some members may not wish for the founder’s release.

According to Fawad Chaudhry, the PTI is facing challenges inf forming coalitions that could apply public pressure on the government. He remarked that the current administration remains  in power partly due to its inability to construct a compelling narrative, which has led to ongoing discussions between the parties.

“Both sides have taken a step back”, he noted, referring to the positions of the PML-N led government and the PTI.

Fawad also highlighted the potential impact of international factors. He observed that “neither the government nor the PTI can predict how Trump will respond”.

He perceptively stated that the answer lied in which American delegation would visit Pakistan. Fawad recalled that Trump had previously invited him to his inauguration, but added. “I am on the control list, so I cannot attend”.

The former PTI member criticised PTI’s current political strategy. He said that it was so ineffective that it has failed to secure Imran Khan’s release.

“Imran Khan is imprisoned due to the political situation of PTI”, and simply said that negotiations were currently ongoing to create opportunities for resolution.

Imran Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, were sentenced to 14 and seven years in prison respectively, by an accountability court in Rawalpindi for their alleged involvement in the £190 million al-Qadir Trust cast.

The court also mandated that the federal government, led by Shehbaz Sharif, assume control of the al-Qadir University, which was established by Imran Khan.

Imran Khan’s attorney, Faisal Chaudhry, conveyed the former prime minister’s message. “We are prepared to endure any hardships in pursuit of true freedom”. The PTI founder has denounced the court’s ruling, labelling it as a mockery of justice and stating he refused to yield to external pressures.
