PML-N introduces new face to replace Shahid Khaqan in Murree

Shahid Khaqan

ISLAMABAD: Following the refusal of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to contest the general election, the Pakistan Muslim League-N has nominated a new candidate from Murree.

The party has officially announced its candidates for Murree’s NA-51 and PP-6 constituencies. Raja Osama Ashfaq, a young candidate, has been granted the party ticket to contest in the NA-51 constituency. Osama Ashfaq is the son of the late former provincial minister, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar.

For PP-6, the party has issued the ticket to Bilal Yamin Satti, the former chairman of the union council Nadh in Kahuta. Notifications for the tickets of NA-51 and PP-6 for the national and provincial assemblies have been released.

Meanwhile, the PML-N has written off Daniyal Aziz and Aisha Rajab Ali by not issuing them tickets for the 2024 election.

Additionally, there is still uncertainty regarding awarding a ticket to Talal Chaudhry, a leader closely associated with the Sharif family, from NA-96 Jaranwala. Sources suggest the party is contemplating awarding the ticket to Nawab Sher Waseer in NA-96 Jaranwala, with a final decision expected tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Aisha Rajab Ali, a former female member of the National Assembly from the PML-N, has declared to contest the upcoming election as an independent candidate, following the announcement by Daniyal Aziz to do the same.

She expressed her disappointment, stating that her contributions to the party were evident, having participated in all meetings and played a role in mobilizing the party on various forums.

Aisha Rajab affirmed her decision to run as an independent candidate from NA-97 Tandlianwala in the 2024 general election.
