PML-N workers threw Saqib Nisar’s verdict in dustbin today: Nawaz Sharif

LAHORE: The President of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that today the party workers rejected the verdict of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar to disqualify him by overwhelmingly electing him as the party president today.

While addressing the party’s general council meeting, Nawaz Sharif expressed his pride in his party workers. He further stated that attempts were made to sow discord between him and his brother Shehbaz Sharif, but he refused to succumb and stood firmly by his side.

Nawaz Sharif said that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, my close friend, endured imprisonment without compromising his principles. He added that Shahid Khaqan stood by him during his time in jail.

“We successfully eliminated terrorism from Pakistan and fostered peace in Karachi,” added Nawaz Sharif.

Nawaz Sharif further said, “We built the Motorway in Pakistan,” adding, “We eradicated load shedding nationwide, leading to economic progress.”

He added that he was implicated in false cases and was given unfair punishment.

The former Prime Minister stated that Maryam Nawaz was taken from jail in handcuffs in front of me. He also mentioned that Hamza Shehbaz endured his time in jail with valour and bravery.

While addressing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Nawaz Sharif accused him of derailing democracy and overthrowing our government.

Nawaz, in reference to the nuclear tests of May 28, 1998, remarked that despite being offered Rs5 billion to refrain from conducting nuclear tests, we rejected the offer for the sake of the country.

Shehbaz directly accused the PTI founder of orchestrating the purported rigging in the 2018 general elections, asserting that Nawaz’s victory in the election was manipulated into a defeat.
