GILGIT: A woman hailing from Samigal in the Darel area of Diamer district, currently residing in Jaglote, Gilgit, has accused police personnel of attempted murder and enforced disappearance of her sons, allegedly over a longstanding personal feud.

In a written complaint addressed to the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Pardi Bangla Police Station in Gilgit, the complainant, Nabarad Wajah, claimed that her family had already been falsely implicated in a criminal case registered under FIR No. 101014-30/22 at Darail Police Station under sections 324, 109, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). She said her husband and sons had been declared absconders in that case despite being innocent and merely working as labourers.

She alleged that on their way back home from Haramosh, her two sons—Atta ur Rehman and Khush Naseeb—were intercepted by police officials at Alam Bridge, near Pardi Bangla. The officials named in the complaint include SIP Zulfiqar, ASI Fazlullah, SGC Shah Alam, and FC Saif ur Rehman from the Ghamari Police Station.

According to her, the police personnel attempted to kill both sons. One of them, Atta ur Rehman, was allegedly thrown into a deep ravine and sustained serious injuries. He was later shifted to the PHQ Hospital in Gilgit. The other son, Khush Naseeb, has reportedly been missing since the incident, and the family fears he may have been killed.

The complainant has demanded that a formal investigation be initiated against the implicated officials and that she and her family be provided justice.

When contacted, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Jaglot Syed Kamran Hussain told HUM News English that the two brothers were wanted in a murder case in Darel and had been absconding while frequently changing addresses.

He said Darel police received intelligence that the suspects were working in Haramosh. Acting on this tip-off, a police team intercepted the vehicle they were traveling in near Alam Bridge. “When they were offloaded, they resisted arrest. One of them fled, while the other injured himself while jumping into a ravine,” the officer stated. He added that police retrieved the injured and shifted him to a hospital.

Responding to a question regarding jurisdiction, he said that under Section 58 of the Pakistan Penal Code, police are authorized to conduct a raid if there are reasonable grounds to believe a suspect may flee.

Meanwhile, SHO of Pardi Bangla Police Station told HUM News that the injured man was not yet in a condition to provide a statement. “Once he stabilizes, we will formally investigate the matter,” he added.
