KARACHI: Police authorities have apprehended two officials belonging to the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) People’s Unity CBA during a raid at a PIA booking office.
Reports indicate that the local police executed a raid at a PIA booking office, resulting in the detainment of Zameer Chandio, Vice President of PIA People’s Unity CBA, and Ashraf, Senior Vice President.
This development takes place against the backdrop of the ongoing protests organized by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Action Committee of Employees. These demonstrations have reverberated across PIA’s offices throughout the nation, with employees voicing their strong dissent against the decision to privatize the national flag carrier.
Protestors have unequivocally asserted that all PIA booking offices will remain shuttered as part of the ongoing protest until their stipulated demands are satisfactorily addressed.
Central to their stance is an adamant refusal to permit any steps that could facilitate the privatization of the national airline.
In response to the apprehensions, protesting employees have raised slogans in vigorous opposition to what they perceive as an unjust action against officials associated with PIACBA.
Amidst this backdrop, the atmosphere remains charged as protesters eagerly await both the resolution of their demands and the release of the detained officials.
It is pertinent to note that the PIA administration has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against more than 250 protesting PIACBA officials and employees, further escalating the tension surrounding this matter.
