Police crackdown on PWD protesting employees

ISLAMABAD: Capital police has launched a crackdown against the protesting Public Works Department (PWD) employees.
Police has started using tear gas to disperse the protesting crowd which had gathered at G-9 sector of Islamabad and had started moving towards the press club.

According to initial reports police has also started making arrests.
Workers of PWD from all over Pakistan have arrived at G-9 DG Office and are protesting against the abolishment of their department.
The government had decided to abolish the Pakistan Public Works Department (Pak PWD) due to its years-long ‘poor performance and corruption’.
