ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protestors clashed with police at Faizabad area of the federal capital. The police personnel responded swiftly and immediately brought the situation under control.
The protesters turned violent and pelted stones at police personnel deployed at Faizabad. The protestors attempted to enter the heavily fortified Islamabad, but failed due to the police officers’ response.
The police responded with tear gas shelling to disperse the stone-pelting protestors. After the skirmish, police said while speaking to media that no miscreant will be allowed to take law into their own hands.
“Action will be taken against miscreants as per law and will be dealt with iron hands,” the police said.
PTI has announced a protest rally towards Islamabad despite repeated warnings from the federal government. The opposition party was not given permission for protest due to security threats.
However, PTI leadership has announced to continue the rally despite everything. Earlier today, the police arrested multiple PTI leaders and activists from across the country for marching towards Islamabad.
All entry and exit points of the federal capital have been sealed, with heavy deployment of police, Frontier Constabulary and Rangers squads.
