Police foil bid to blow up historic twin bridges in Gilgit

Gilgit: Police on Thursday foiled an attempt to blow up the historic twin suspension bridges of Chinar Bagh, Gilgit.
According to police, law-enforcement agencies had received information about the presence of a suspected bag on one of the twin bridges.
Members of law-enforcement immediately acted on the information and seized the bag.
Bomb Disposal Squad was immediately called for help, which defused the explosive device.
A police official told Hum News English that the handmade bomb was planted in water pipe and it had double detonation mechanism, without giving details about double detonation system.
“We are further investigating the bomb to ascertain quantity and further details of the bomb,” he said.
No one has been arrested in this regard.
