KARACHI: Police investigations have led to new findings surrounding the death of actor and model Humaira Asghar, shedding light on her final days and the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
According to officials, Humaira was last seen leaving her residence on September 28, visiting Clifton around 1 PM and returning by 2 PM. After that, she was not seen leaving her apartment again.
Investigators confirmed that she was going through serious financial difficulties and was under immense stress due to a lack of job opportunities.
Her phone records show that she frequently messaged friends and acquaintances, requesting work or job referrals, many of which were ignored or not taken seriously.
Authorities are also probing why no foul odor was detected from her apartment for an extended period. In November, residents of the building’s second floor reported a smell to the watchman.
However, when building staff checked, no odor was noticed, and the complaint was dismissed. Officials believe this delayed attention might have allowed the smell to dissipate before it could be traced.
Police say Humaira was likely washing clothes at the time of the fatal incident. She is believed to have stepped out of the bathroom, accidentally collided with an object, and fallen leading to her death.
Investigators found no food in the kitchen, and while a food delivery app was installed on her phone, it wasn’t working.
Her mobile phone has now been handed over to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) for forensic analysis.
On the day of her suspected death, Humaira reportedly contacted 14 people via mobile. From the apartment, officials recovered three mobile phones, a tablet, a diary, and various documents.
Police also revealed that three SIM cards were registered in her name, all active in the recovered devices. Notably, two of the phones were not password-protected.
A digital scan showed her phones stored over 2,000 contacts, with active communication with at least 75 different numbers over a prolonged period.
CTD experts will now examine privacy locks and attempt to extract further information from the devices.
