ISLAMABAD: Adding to the concerns over the sexual assaults in Pakistan, two policemen have been booked for sexually molesting a nurse in Faisalabad.
The unfortunate incident unfolded on Friday when the nurse and her friend were intercepted by two police officers identified as Shujaat and Suhaib on Kanal Road in Samundari, Faisalabad. According to reports from the police, the officers allegedly perpetrated the sexual assault before fleeing the scene.
Responding to the situation, local law enforcement authorities swiftly took action, apprehending both accused officers. The Superintendent of Police (SP) personally visited the residence of the victim, offering assurances of a just investigation and legal proceedings.

This incident has, once again, highlighted the alarming surge in rape cases across Pakistan, with Punjab bearing a significant brunt of such incidents. A recent, similarly horrifying case occurred when a woman fell victim to sexual assault within the confines of an X-ray room at Rawalpindi Hospital.
In response to the nurse’s case, authorities have registered a criminal case under section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which pertains to the punishment for rape.
The incident serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need for robust measures to address and curtail the growing number of rape incidents in the country, particularly within the province of Punjab.
