Polio cases in Pakistan reach 50

ISLAMABAD: Polio cases in Pakistan have reached 50 after a new polio case has been confirmed from Tank district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), Wild Poliovirus Type 1 (WPV1) polio has been confirmed in a 20-month baby girl from Tank.

FIA arrests two suspected pedophiles

This is the second such case reported from Tank this year.

According to NEOC, this year 24 cases were confirmed in Balochistan, 13 in Sindh, 11 in KP and both Punjab and Islamabad reported one case each.

The recent increase in polio cases has raised concerns among international organizations, which have urged Pakistan to implement emergency measures.
