Power Division issues report on electricity restoration in flood-hit areas

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Energy’s Power Division has issued a detailed report on the ongoing power restoration efforts in flood-affected areas across Pakistan, showing that electricity has been restored to more than 1.3 million out of 1.63 million affected consumers.

According to the report, significant progress has been made in several regions, though challenges persist due to high water levels and infrastructure damage. Here are the details of distribution companies (DISCOs) and restored operations so far:

PESCO (SWAT, BANAR, SHANGLA, SWABI, DI KHAN)

  • 12 grids and 91 feeders were affected.
  • 86 feeders fully restored, 5 partially operational.
  • Power restored to 461,049 out of 463,375 affected consumers.
  • Restoration for the remaining 2,326 expected between September 11–12.
  • Areas of Swat, Swabi, and DI Khan have completed restoration.

GEPCO (GUJRANWALA REGION)

  • 11 grids and 103 feeders impacted.
  • 86 feeders restored, 17 partially operational.
  • 668,871 out of 735,987 consumers reconnected.
  • Restoration for the remaining 67,116 consumers pending water recession.

LESCO (LAHORE, OKARA, SHEIKHUPURA, KASUR, NANKANA)

  • 67 feeders affected.
  • 55 feeders restored, 12 partially operational.
  • Power restored to 60,661 of 73,734 consumers.
  • Remaining 13,073 expected to be reconnected between September 7–8.

FESCO (TOBA TEK SINGH, FAISALABAD, CHINIOT, JHANG, SARGODHA, MIANWALI, DI KHAN)

  • 26 grids and 78 feeders affected.
  • 12 feeders fully restored, 62 temporarily restored.
  • Power restored to 71,748 of 198,616 consumers.
  • Remaining 126,868 expected to be restored between September 6–7, depending on water levels.

MEPCO (SOUTH PUNJAB)

  • 147 feeders and 105,972 consumers affected.
  • Restoration work pending recession of floodwaters.

TESCO (NORTH WAZIRISTAN, KHYBER)

  • 7 feeders affected.
  • 2 feeders restored, 11 temporarily functional.
  • Power restored to 7,979 of 31,574 consumers.
  • Remaining 23,595 expected to regain power by 5 PM on September 15.

HAZECO (MANSEHRA REGION)

  • 3 affected feeders fully restored.

NATIONWIDE SUMMARY

  • Out of 49 affected grids and 506 feeders, 244 feeders have been fully restored, while 254 are temporarily operational.
  • In total, 1,301,283 out of 1,632,923 affected consumers have had power restored.
  • Restoration efforts for the remaining 331,640 consumers remain a top priority, the Power Division said.

The Ministry has assured the public that restoration work is being carried out on an emergency basis in coordination with local authorities, and efforts will continue until all affected regions are fully reconnected.
