Power Division reports progress on electricity restoration in flood-hit areas

PESHAWAR/LAHORE: The Power Division has issued an update on the restoration of electricity in flood-affected regions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reporting progress in several areas as of August 31.

According to the report, 12 grid stations and 91 feeders under the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) were affected in Swat, Buner, Shangla, Swabi, and Dera Ismail Khan. Of these, 84 feeders have been fully restored while seven remain partially functional.

Restoration work in Swabi and DI Khan is complete, while full restoration in Swat, Buner, and Shangla is expected within two to seven days.

The Tribal Areas Electric Supply Company (TESCO) reported 10 affected feeders in North Waziristan and Khyber. Two feeders have been temporarily restored, with full restoration expected by September 5.

In Mansehra, under Hazara Electric Supply Company Limited (HAZECO), two out of three affected feeders have been fully restored.

In Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO)-administered areas, 10 grid stations and 87 feeders were impacted. Out of these, 73 feeders have been restored and 13 are partially restored.

Likewise, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) reported 58 affected feeders in Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana Sahib. Partial restoration has been completed, with full restoration anticipated between August 31 and September 5.

In areas under the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), including Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali, 24 grids and 68 affected feeders have been temporarily restored.

In Multan Electric Power Company’s (MEPCO) jurisdiction, 100 feeders have been impacted. Restoration work will begin as soon as water recedes in the affected locations, the Power Division report said.

Overall, out of a total of 46 grid stations and 417 affected feeders nationwide, 159 feeders have been completely restored and 248 have been temporarily restored.

The Power Division said that complete restoration of electricity in flood-affected areas remains a top priority.
