PPP Central Executive Committee meeting ends at an impasse

ISLAMABAD: The Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) concluded without reaching a consensus on the formation of future coalition government in centre and the provinces, with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and other parties.

The PPP has decided to reconvene the CEC meeting tomorrow.

Addressing the media post-meeting, Sherry Rehman stated that the PPP CEC extended congratulations to the party and its members, with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asifa Bhutto recognized for their campaign efforts.

Rehman highlighted three key agenda items discussed during the meeting, emphasizing a thorough examination of election-related matters. She said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has resolved to engage with all relevant parties and constituencies, establishing a committee for this purpose.

While the CEC deliberations are ongoing, no definitive decisions have been reached, with discussions also touching upon allegations of election irregularities, she said.

Speaking to the press, Shazia Murri noted the presence of members from all provinces in today’s CEC meeting, with a commitment to review and address election irregularities.

Faisal Karim Kundi added that concerns over election rigging were raised by some members during the CEC session, particularly regarding reservations from members across the four provinces.

Details regarding the alleged rigging will be disclosed in tomorrow’s press conference, preceding the scheduled CEC meeting at 3 o’clock, he said.
