President Zardari, military leadership extend Eid greetings

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari extended heartfelt Eid-ul-Adha greetings to the Pakistani nation and the Muslim world, calling for unity, compassion, and sacrifice in line with the spirit of the occasion.

In his message, the president emphasised that Eid-ul-Adha symbolises the renewal of faith, sacrifice, and brotherhood, drawing lessons from the unwavering obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS). “This day reminds us that no sacrifice should be spared in the pursuit of divine pleasure,” he said, adding that true individual and collective success lies in submission to Allah’s will.

President Zardari urged the nation to embody the spirit of sacrifice by supporting the underprivileged. “We must pledge to care for the needy, the sick, and the impoverished around us,” he stated, stressing the need to foster love, brotherhood, and solidarity in society. He called upon Pakistanis to stand united, sharing each other’s burdens to build a stronger, more prosperous nation.

Reaffirming the need to eradicate hatred and prejudice, the president prayed for Allah’s acceptance of the nation’s sacrifices and for Pakistan’s peace, progress, and prosperity.

The armed forces’ leadership, including Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar, also extended Eid greetings.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military leadership described Eid-ul-Adha as a symbol of unity and sacrifice, vowing to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The armed forces paid tribute to martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation and honoured their families for their enduring sacrifices.
