Prisoner escapes from Malir Jail Karachi

KARACHI: A prisoner involved in a kidnapping and rape case has escaped from Malir Jail, prompting swift action against negligent jail staff.

Seven police personnel have been arrested, and a case has been registered for negligence.

According to reports, the escapee, Muhammad Javed, son of Abdul Majeed, was imprisoned in Barrack No. 5 of Circle No. 1 at Malir Jail.

He managed to cut the window of the washroom and climbed over the prison wall to escape.

Javed was arrested two years ago by the SITE Superhighway Police for his involvement in a kidnapping and rape case.

Following the escape, eight police officers stationed at the jail, including Assistant Superintendent Abdullah Khaskheli, Duty Officer Head Constable Waheed Tanoli, and other officers, were charged with negligence under FIR No. 24/1350 at Shah Latif Town Police Station. Seven officers have been arrested so far.

The case was filed on behalf of Malir Jail Deputy and Superintendent Zulfiqar Ali Pirzada. A search operation has been launched to track down the fugitive.
