Private company threatens to halt BRT operations

The private company operating the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has threatened to suspend the bus service over non-payment of dues. 

Concerning the outstanding payments for other services, the private company has written a letter to the Transport Secretary, stating that an amount of 603 million for the months of May and June, respectively, remain unpaid. 

The non-payment of dues for these services could affect the continuity of bus operations.

The letter read that the urgent need for the settlement of outstanding payments within one week. Failure to make the payment may result in the suspension of BRT operations.

In June, the company threatened to suspend the operations over the non-payment of the dues. However,  the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government temporarily alleviated the suspension by clearing 50 per cent of the dues.
