Probe implicates 108 Punjab govt officials in wheat smuggling

ISLAMABAD: A confidential report submitted to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has revealed that at least 108 government officers, employees, and high-ups in Punjab province were involved in the smuggling of wheat, flour and other commodities.

The report, obtained exclusively by the Hum Investigation Team, names directors, deputy directors, assistant commissioners, police officers, food inspectors, clerks, and patwaris among those involved in wheat smuggling.

These individuals are currently serving in various districts of Punjab.

According to the report, several high-ups, including a few members of parliament, are also allegedly involved in the smuggling racket.

The Federal Ministry of Interior has recommended action against the employees, and the list of suspected smugglers has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Home Department of Punjab has initiated action against the employees, and the information has been shared with the Punjab chief secretary to ensure further action.
