Propaganda behind blaming Punjab for everything: Kh Saad

LAHORE: Propaganda and mismanagement have led to a time where Punjab is being blamed [without any justification] for any deprivation in other provinces, said senior PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Sunday — a reference to the latest series of accusations leveled by the PPP and the nationalists from smaller federating units.

“We are not responsible for the martial laws imposed in the country,” said Khawaja and promised to protect the rights of the people of Punjab.

Yet again, he described Rai Ahmed Khan Kharal as a symbol of Punjab’s resistance and rubbished the impression that the province had never offered resistance to occupiers and injustice.

Also on Sunday, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said the PPP always resorted to start playing the “Sindh card” to hide its corruption and failures.

Earlier, Azma Bokhari she had questioned whether the rivers of milk and honey were flowing in Sindh.

ONLY PUNJAB WAS PARTITIONED

He went on to say that Punjab had always only contributed since the Partition — the deadly episode that saw over one million deaths and millions others migrating from one part of the province to other as the Subcontinent was divided into two countries Pakistan and India.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, the senior PML-N leader also mentioned that pain was the obvious response when the BLA — the outlawed terrorist group — sent bodies to Punjab.

Punjab had always faced the brunt of wars for being on the frontline, he said.

Khawaja also reminded the audience that only Punjab was partitioned in 1947 and gave sacrifices through blood.

Earlier in the week, the PML-N said he hadn’t witnessed hate and blame game to target Punjab in his 50-year long political career.

END THIS VIOLENT POLITICS

Moreover, he stressed the need for doing politics within the parameter set by the Constitution and law.

Politics of arson, blocking roads and lockdown should come to and end, said the PML-N leader and added that political issues could only resolved through politics, not force.

He also called for ceasefire between the PML-N and the PPP. Thankful to those who have understood the issue, others who haven’t should also realise,” the seasoned politician from Lahore remarked.

Amid the ongoing criticism targeting the PML-N, Khawaja Saad in post on X had earlier said the PPP could not distance itself from the present system. “No one will believe that”.

Meanwhile, he used the opportunity to praise Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, saying she was day and night for the progress of Punjab.

Earlier this week, Maryam had made it clear that she would never apologise — a reference to the demand made by PPP for her aggressive response to the critics — and would argue present the case of Punjab at every forum.
