ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has received five proposals from international consulting firms for consultancy services related to the upcoming spectrum auction, a press release issued here said on Tuesday.

The aim of the auction is to enhance Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) across Pakistan, marking a significant step towards improving mobile connectivity and service quality in the country.

According to the PTA, the following firms have submitted both technical and financial bids:

1. Aetha Consulting Limited
2. Detecon Consulting FZ-LLC
3. Frontier Economics Limited
4. KomKonsult (Private) Limited
5. National Economic Research Associates Inc.

The PTA will now proceed with a detailed evaluation of these proposals, adhering to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules.

The selected consultant will play a crucial role in guiding the authority through the spectrum auction process, a key development for Pakistan’s telecommunications sector.

It is notable here that other than Zong, no other telecom company has signaled willingness to participate in a 5G auction, unless the terms of the auction are altered. The telecom sector recommends that the costs of the auction be changed into Pakistani Rupee denominations instead of US Dollars, and be made more in line with the international telecom prices.
