ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday announced to stage peaceful protests across the country on May 9 — a day when military installations were attacked following the arrest of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan last year. This later led to a widespread state crackdown on the PTI, its leadership and workers, some of whom are still languishing in jails facing trials in military and civilian courts.
Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, mentioned that the protests would be spearheaded by ticket holders.

Gohar expressed concerns regarding the lack of access to the CCTV footage from the May 9 event, advocating for the establishment of a judicial commission to probe the issue. He stressed that Imran Khan had no intention of harming relations with the United States.
Earlier today, Director General (DG) ISPR Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said the May 9 perpetrators attempted to create a wedge between the people and the armed forces and they will have to be punished in accordance with the law and constitution of Pakistan.
