PTI announces to sit in opposition until gets back ‘full mandate’

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar has said that their party will not engage in any form of power-sharing with the Pakistan People’s Party, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

Talking to the media outside Adiala jai, Barrister Gohar said that PTI’s politics did not revolve around power-sharing, and “we will maintain a strong opposition until we get back our full mandate.”

PTI leader said that they held an extensive discussion today regarding the formation of a government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, he said, detailed deliberations were held on forming governments in the Centre and Punjab.

He also talked about the briefing given to party leader Imran Khan regarding elections, highlighting that, according to the records, the PTI has won 180 seats. Furthermore, he emphasized that “our mandate has been stolen, which we will contest vigorously on every platform.”

The PTI leader urged the Election Commission of Pakistan and the judiciary to expedite the adjudication of cases of 70 constituencies, emphasizing that no one should assume power based on a fraudulent mandate.

Barrister Gohar emphasized that the PTI had been approached to form a coalition government with the PPP, the PML-N and the MQM. However, he said, following Imran Khan’s instructions, “we have unequivocally declined any power-sharing arrangements.”

He reiterated Khan’s message that “PTI’s politics is not about power-sharing; it is about serving the public interest. While others may pursue their interests under the guise of public service, the PTI remains committed to safeguarding the rights of the people, upholding the mandate, democracy, and the rule of law. Hence, we do not entertain the idea of power-sharing and will continue to offer staunch opposition until our full mandate is recognized.”

He expressed confidence in PTI’s ability to form governments at the centre, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa soon, urging the judiciary to swiftly resolve issues related to the 70 constituencies.

Barrister Gohar announced the final candidates for chief ministers nominated by Imran Khan, naming Mian Aslam for Punjab and Salar for Balochistan.

He said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, only the speaker’s slot has decided upon with Imran Khan nominating Aqibullah as the speaker.

He said that the names of the deputy speaker and central speaker will be disclosed by tomorrow.

He stated that Omar Ayub will be thei prime minister candidate and they will strive to appoint Omar Ayub as prime minister until Imran Khan comes out jail.

He expressed dissatisfaction that the political party, which holds a two-thirds majority in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, is being sidelined, while the party with minimal popularity with only “20 seats”, is being handed over the government. The people will not accept such a mandate, he said

A PTI leader announced a peaceful protest against blatant rigging on Friday and invited all parties, including Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Jamaat-e-Islami, and GDA to participate.

He clarified that there have been no discussions with the PPP. “Our sole agenda is to engage in public politics rather than power-sharing,” he said

PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat stated that “we have presented the entire situation to Imran Khan, and his stance is clear: we cannot engage in any form of power-sharing with the PML-N and the PPP.

Marwat announced that they will show all Form 45 documents to both international and Pakistani media in Islamabad at 2pm tomorrow.

He added that Salman Akram Raja will deliver a presentation on the matter, and all local and international media have been requested to attend the event.

Marwat also urged PTI social media activists to disseminate the message as widely as possible.
