ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) core committee has said that after the shameful attempts to punish Imran Khan in false cases, snatch the bat symbol and forcibly keep the party out of the election, the Election Commission of Pakistan is busy in the final conspiracy to rob the public mandate by de-seating the newly-elected members of parliament on very ridiculous technical grounds.
After the core committee meeting, the PTI said in a statement that “the people will not accept the insult of their mandate by the Election Commission of Pakistan nor will they ever forgive those who dig the graves of the constitution and democracy.”
The statement said: “The top political parties are raising voices against the criminal role of the ECP and the Chief Election Commissioner who has no more justification to lead the commission and he should resign immediately.”
“It is inevitable for the country and the nation to stop the open insult of the people’s mandate, constitution and democracy under the ECP and the Chief Election Commissioner. PTI founder Imran Khan has called for a peaceful protest by the whole nation on the open insult of the public mandate tomorrow.”
It said that “people from all walks of life should come out of their homes tomorrow and raise their voices of protest in a very peaceful but effective manner against the open disrespect of the right of the constitution, democracy and the people’s vote.”
The statement said that “the people are appealed to preserve the sanctity of their vote, keep their daily life activities especially business activities suspended tomorrow and play their role in making the abhorrent plan of power sharing among their rejected political elements fail.”
“The time has come for the Pakistan People’s Party to atone for truncating Pakistan by openly disrespecting the public mandate in the 1970s general election,” the core committee said.
