ISLAMABAD: The accountability court has issued a written order granting the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) a three-day remand to investigate Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman in connection with the 190-million-pound Al-Qadir Trust scandal.

According to the NAB’s claims outlined in the order, PTI chief allegedly received land and money for Al-Qadir Trust in exchange of the embezzled funds. Concrete evidence supporting allegations of corruption has been cited by the NAB.

PTI chief’s counsels, however, have denied any financial benefits and have argued that if money laundering were proven, the cost would amount to 100 million pounds.

The NAB sought the physical remand of the already incarcerated chief of PTI for further investigation, which has been granted by the accountability court for three days. A subsequent hearing on the request for physical remand is scheduled for November 17.
