RAWALPINDI: Despite extension in ban on prisoner meetings in Adiala jail, a delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been allowed to meet their incarcerated leader Imran Khan.
In this regard a five member PTI delegation has arrived at Adiala Jail to meet the party’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, after receiving permission from the government following the intervention of JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
The PTI delegation, comprising Barrister Gohar, Asad Qaiser, Ali Zafar, Salman Akram Raja, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza, is expected to discuss constitutional amendments with the party’s chief. They will also brief him on recent consultations held with Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Ban on prisoner meetings in Adiala Jail extended
The PTI leaders were scheduled to meet Imran Khan at 8 a.m. this morning. However, PTI’s Information Secretary, Sheikh Waqas Akram, expressed concerns, claiming that Adiala Jail authorities were initially not allowing the delegation to meet their leader.
According to sources, Maulana Fazlur Rehman intervened by reaching out to the government, raising concerns about the refusal. Following his involvement, the authorities permitted the PTI delegation to meet with Imran Khan, providing a much-needed opportunity for the party to discuss political and legal matters.
The meeting is crucial as it will include talks regarding potential constitutional amendments and PTI’s position on recent developments. The interaction also comes amidst rising political tensions in the country, with the PTI leader currently imprisoned and several party decisions requiring his input.
