PTI registered party, it would be illegal to stop it from contesting elections: PM Kakar

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, while speaking on Hum News’s program ‘Hum Dekhen Ge’ with Mansoor Ali Khan, stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is a registered political party, and it would be illegal to prevent it from contesting in the general elections of 2024.

On Election Day, PTI candidates will actively participate in the electoral process, engaging with voters in the field. The presence of PTI candidates in the field will be notable, and voters are expected to lend their support to them

He further clarified that there is no policy in place to prohibit PTI from conducting rallies. He expressed his intention to inquire with the Punjab government about the reasons behind their decision to disallow the PTI rally.

The caretaker prime minister added that he holds the belief that individuals implicated in the May 9 events should not hold positions in public office.
