PTI leader Asad Qaiser arrested from Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser was arrested from his residence in Islamabad on Friday.

Asad Qaiser’s brother released a video statement, saying that Qaiser has been taken into custody from their residence in Islamabad.

In the video statement, Asad Qaiser’s brother explained that the police and people in civvies arrived at their home and arrested Asad Qaiser while he was at home.

According to sources, after his arrest, Asad Qaiser was transferred to an undisclosed location.

The sources said that he was taken into custody by the police and anti-corruption officials from his Bani Gala residence.

They said that Asad Qaiser is facing allegations of corruption related to the procurement of medical equipment for the Gaju Khan Medical College Swabi.

It’s worth noting that recently, a PTI delegation had a meeting with the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Asad Qaiser was also part of that delegation during the meeting.

Earlier, Anti-Corruption Court in Peshawar extended the interim bail of  former speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser until November 14.

Asad Qaiser was accused of making illegal appointments in the Swabi education department during the PTI’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
