ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and senior lawyer Hameed Khan has emphasized the inherent freedom of expression on social media platforms.

Speaking at HUM News programme Pakistan Tinight, he said that each individual has the right to voice their opinions as they see fit, regardless of the platform.

Khan clarified that the PTI has not initiated any organized campaign on social media. He highlighted the diverse nature of social media, stating that it serves as an arena where individuals from various walks of life voice their thoughts independently.

Regarding the party’s stance on the judiciary, he reiterated that PTI adheres to a policy of refraining from making statements against the judiciary. He emphasised the importance of maintaining a respectful and lawful approach in all matters.

Khan further shed light on the challenges faced by the PTI leadership, revealing that a variety of cases have been filed against the party’s chairman. He pointed out the ongoing legal actions as part of the political landscape and the inherent complexities within it.

In a broader context, Khan stated that the PTI chairman is facing what he believes to be a targeted campaign for vengeance. He called for a fair assessment of the situation and urged that any judgments be based on facts and unbiased analysis.

The PTI’s approach to social media engagement and its interactions with the judiciary continue to be subjects of public interest and scrutiny.

Earlier on Sunday, the Ministry of Law and Justice issued a warning to individuals trolling the Islamabad High Court (IHC) chief justice on social media.

The Ministry of Law in a tweet stated that political parties should refrain from attacking national institutions.

It stated that the social media assault by political parties on the chief justice of the Islamabad High Court is utterly reprehensible.
