ISLAMABAD: Despite the cancellation of the protest by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Islamabad today, the district administration has imposed section 144 in the federal capital.
With the imposition of section 144, the Red Zone and its extension will be completely sealed off in case of any protest attempt. Similarly, in Rawalpindi district, section 144 has also been imposed, which will remain till August 10, 2025.
The party has summoned all its MNAs and senators to Islamabad, where they will stage a protest outside Adiala Jail, according to sources. Meanwhile, members of provincial assemblies will hold demonstrations in their respective constituencies.

According to insiders, PTI’s central leadership has completed consultations with all four provincial presidents and chief organisers for the protest in August 5. The party has also cancelled its planned protest and rally in Islamabad. Sources say the protest will now be held under the banner of Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan, and will be closely supervised by PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja.

Party officials from all provinces have shared their protest schedules with the top leadership. All ticket holders have been put on alert, and provincial presidents and coordinators will stay in constant contact with the central command.
Earlier on Sunday, Mirpur police arrested Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, former AJK prime minister and regional head of PTI over allegations of disrupting public order. His detention sparked demonstrations by PTI supporters across several areas as well.
