LAHORE: Given the anticipated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned rally at Minar-e-Pakistan tomorrow, all entry points to the historic site have been shut off.
The police have locked all six gates of the historic monument.
According to the police, the directive to close the gates came from the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA).
Containers have also been placed inside the monument’s grounds to block access.
Visitors who arrived at Minar-e-Pakistan for sightseeing were also being denied entry as the area remains sealed off.
Will PTI hold its rally in Lahore tomorrow?
Meanwhile, PTI has decided to proceed with its Lahore rally regardless of permissions, announcing plans to hold public meetings wherever convoys are halted.
PTI has instructed its workers to remain peaceful and avoid confrontations with police while maintaining flexibility if Minar-e-Pakistan is not accessible or if they are directed to hold the rally outside the city.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday ordered the city’s deputy commissioner to decide by 5pm upon PTI’s petitions for permission to hold a rally in the provincial capital tomorrow.
It is worth mentioning that the PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter has made all preparations for the Lahore public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan on Saturday evening and each MPA has been tasked with bringing at least 500 workers with them.
