PTI supporters allegedly ran vehicle into rangers on Srinagar Highway

ISLAMABAD: Security personnel on Tuesday morning accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters of ramming a vehicle into rangers officers on the Srinagar Highway.
This reportedly resulted in the deaths of four rangers, with over five rangers and one police officer injured.
The attack is said to have occurred as PTI protestors and the law enforcers clashed on Tuesday night. The
PTI supporters have been actively protesting, calling for the release of former prime minister, Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated and fading several legal charges. The ongoing nationwide protest saw a huge mobilisation of PTI workers and supporters.

This lead to several clashes with law enforcement officers in various locations in Islamabad and beyond, as the federal government imposed section 144, barring public gatherings.
The PML-N led government also deployed over 20,000 police officers, rangers and even Frontier Corps to keep the protestors at bay. Several cities were completely or partially sealed off, including Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
According to sources, the vehicle was driven by people described as ‘trouble-makers, who allegedly targeted the rangers during the protest.
The situation has become increasingly dire, with reports of more PTI protestors closing in on the area. As the protests continue, security forces are reportedly taking ‘measures’ to address what they term as mass unrest.
There are rumours of a possible deployment of the military, as well.
