PTI to take out Independence Day rally

ISLAMABAD: Scrapping out its earlier plan of holding a protest, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will take out an Independence Day rally tonight at 9:00 pm from Zero Point Islamabad.

In this regard, PTI leader Aamir Mughal has issued special instructions to party workers for Independence Day celebrations in the capital instead of holding protest for ‘Haqiqqi Azadi’ as it had planned earlier.

According to sources, PTI will hold a rally in Islamabad to mark the occasion, which will be led by PTI President Aamir Mughal.

The rally will start at 9 pm from Zero Point. Aamir Mughal has directed all workers and the public to carry the national flag in one hand and the PTI flag along with a picture of Imran Khan in the other.

He stressed that, in line with party instructions, there will be no protest, only Independence Day celebrations.

“As per directions of the party, there will not be any protest. PTI workers will celebrate the Independence Day,” PTI Islamabad president Aamir Mughal said.

The PTI founder Imran Khan had earlier given a call for party workers to hold protest on Aug 5. Later he gave another call for protest on Aug 14, saying that the nation could not get ‘Haqiqqi Azadi’ unless it made efforts for it.

The PML-N government had criticised the PTI call to hold protest on the Independence Day, saying that it was unfortunate that the PTI had planned to hold protest on Independence Day.

Earlier, the PTI also staged a protest on August 5, the day declared by the government for solidarity with the Kashmiris. The protest did not achieve the results anticipated by the PTI and failed to gather public momentum.
