PTI’s intra-party election and symbol case; PHC urges swift decision from ECP


PHC verdict

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has announced the reserved verdict on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) intra-party election and election symbol allotment case.

PHC has directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to promptly decide on the PTI intra-party election and allotment of marks case, setting a deadline for the decision to be made before December 22.

The court emphasised the importance of a timely resolution, stating that it is appropriate for the ECP to provide a decision on this matter.

The case has garnered attention due to its implications on the internal dynamics of the PTI, and the court’s directive signals an urgency for clarity and resolution before the specified deadline.

Earlier on Monday the PHC had reserved its verdict which was announced today. On Tuesday, a two-member bench of the PHC had also barred the ECP from giving its decision in PTI’s intra-party election and election symbol case till December 21.

Justice SM Atiq Shah and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah conducted the hearing on the writ petition of PTI against the ECP’s notice related to intra-party elections and the election symbol.
