PTI’s petition disposed after denial of rally permission

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has disposed of the petition filed by the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) after denial of permission to hold a public rally at the Minar-e-Pakistan on March 22.
The petition stated that PTI plans to hold a rally from 8 PM to midnight on March 22, emphasising that the right to peaceful assembly is constitutionally guaranteed.
Justice Farooq Haider heard the petition filed by PTI Punjab Vice President Akmal Khan Bari through Advocate Latif Khosa.
The court issued the ruling based on a report submitted by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore.
FIA arrests journalist Farhan Mallick, charges unclear
According to the report, the DC Lahore has rejected PTI’s request for the rally, stating that permission cannot be granted.
The court has advised the petitioner to challenge the DC’s decision through the appropriate legal channels.
MINAR-E-PAKISTAN INCIDENT
In a separate incident, a man climbed Minar-e-Pakistan, prompting a rescue operation.
The man identified as Faisal and a resident of Faisalabad climbed up the Minar-e-Pakistan and was brought down by the rescue officials.
