PTI’s Shaukat Yousafzai detained at Bacha Khan airport

Peshawar: Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, the former provincial minister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been detained at Bacha Khan Airport in Peshawar.
Reportedly, the former minister was detained while being en route to Saudi Arabia for Umrah. In a video statement released from the airport, Shaukat Yousafzai expressed his bewilderment, stating, “I was on my way for Umrah after obtaining all necessary clearances.

However, I do not understand why I was stopped at the airport, especially after my boarding pass had been issued.”
Yousafzai, a prominent political figure, went on to express uncertainty about the grounds for his detention, saying, “My name is not in the Exit Control List (ECL), nor is there any FIR against me.”
He added that he has always been respectful of the institutions throughout his political career. “I have always respected institutions in my politics,” he said in the video message, appealing for transparency in the unfolding situation.
