KARACHI: The governments of Punjab and Sindh have announced a public holiday on February 5 (Wednesday) to observe solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris in India.
The Punjab government has announced a public holiday throughout the province on February 5 in connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day.
According to the notification, to express solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren and sisters all Punjab government offices will remain closed on Wednesday.
According to a notification issued by the Sindh government, on February 5 a public holiday will be observed in Sindh, like the rest of the country.
All government and semi-government institutes will remain closed on the day.
The federal government has issued the annual holiday calendar, confirming a public holiday on Feb 5.

As a result, all government and semi-government offices, as well as banks, will remain closed nationwide.
In addition, educational institutions and markets across the country will also remain closed to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day.
The holiday is observed annually to express support for the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.
