Public holiday declared as Urs of Sufi Poet Sachal Sarmast begins

KHAIRPUR: The town of Khairpur in Sindh has come alive with the commencement of the three-day Urs (death anniversary) celebrations of the revered Sufi poet, Hazrat Sachal Sarmast.
Hum Network hosts star-studded sehri event
To mark this occasion, authorities have announced a public holiday in Khairpur tomorrow (Monday), allowing residents to participate fully in the festivities.
The Urs ceremonies will kick off with solemn rituals, with Sajjada Nashin Khawaja Abdul Haq Farooqui performing the traditional bathing of the shrine with rose water and adorning it with a fragrant wreath of flowers.
Reflecting on the significance of Sachal Sarmast’s poetry, Khawaja Abdul Haq highlighted its timeless message of love, peace, and humanity.
It is expected that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah will inaugurate the Urs ceremonies tomorrow, signifying the government’s support for preserving and promoting the rich spiritual heritage of the region.
