ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has officially declared May 28th, Youm-e-Takbeer, a public holiday in recognition of Pakistan’s unyielding defence capabilities.
“Youm-e-Takbeer serves as a reminder of the unity and resolve of the Pakistani nation to make its defence invincible,” stated the Prime Minister.
“On this day, the entire nation decided that no external pressure would compromise the sovereignty and defence of our country,” he added.
“Youm-e-Takbeer commemorates the unity of political and defence forces under the green crescent flag to fortify the nation’s defence,” remarked the Prime Minister.
“This day is also a renewal of our commitment to thwart the nefarious designs of external and internal enemies who seek to destabilise the country through divisive politics,” he asserted.
May 28th is a day to pay tribute to the then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan Armed Forces for their pivotal role in making the country’s defence impregnable. “We honour their contributions to our national security,” said PM Shehbaz.
“We also remember and salute the scientists, including those led by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who played a crucial role in initiating and advancing Pakistan’s nuclear programme,” the Prime Minister acknowledged.
“On this day, the Pakistani nation, including myself, vows to ensure the economic security of the country through relentless hard work, just as we made our defence invincible on May 28th,” the Prime Minister declared.
“Let us pledge today to counter not only external enemies but also internal elements that incite chaos, as witnessed on May 9th, with unity, discipline, and firm belief, through day and night efforts,” urged the Prime Minister.
