Public transport fares slashed in Punjab

LAHORE: A massive cut has been made in transport fares in Punjab after the recent reduction in petrol prices, on the directives of the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
A new schedule for reduced private transport fares has been released for 37 cities across Punjab. The fare reductions range from Rs 40 to Rs 250, benefiting passengers across various routes.
Strict action will be taken against transporters who are found involved in overcharging. To ensure compliance with the new fare structure, authorities have started conducting checks across the province.
KP govt approves Rs1bn to equip police with armored vehicles
A total of 30 vehicles were halted for overcharging passengers, and fines amounting to Rs 358,500 were imposed on violators.
These actions are part of the government’s efforts to provide immediate relief to the public and regulate transport services.
The Punjab government will continue monitoring compliance with the new fare structure, ensuring that all transport operators adhere to the revised rates.
