Field Marshal reiterates support for Kashmir, Palestine in Independence Day message

ISLAMABAD: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir extended his congratulations to the people of Pakistan on the country’s 78th Independence Day. He spoke about unity, national security, and unwavering commitment to sovereignty in his message.
Field Marshal Asim Munir described the public’s trust in the armed forces as the “military’s greatest strength”, vowing that the army would continue to stand as a steadfast guardian of the nation’s integrity.
“We will never compromise on our freedom,” he said, adding, “Any attempt to harm Pakistan’s sovereignty will be met with an immediate and firm response.”

Paying tribute to the nation’s founding generation, the Field Marshal honoured the sacrifices made in the struggle for independence. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s resilience in confronting terrorism, noting that the country has paid a significant cost, both in lives and in resources, to ensure internal peace and stability.
“Pakistan has emerged as a strong and secure fortress of the Islamic world,” he said, adding that the country also reflects interfaith harmony and religious freedom. He appreciated the contributions of Pakistan’s minority communities to national development and their role in strengthening the social fabric.
On regional and global issues, Field Marshal Munir condemned the recent Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir, calling for a transparent international investigation. He criticized India for what he described as “a deliberate attack on Pakistan’s civilian population” during the recent escalation, accusing New Delhi of acting with impunity.
“The bravery of our people has become a symbol of resilience and unwavering spirit,” he added.
The Field Marshal also reiterated Pakistan’s stance on peaceful coexistence in South Asia, saying the country supports regional peace, economic cooperation, and development.
He also reaffirmed full backing for the people of occupied Kashmir, saying, “Granting Kashmiris their right to self-determination remains the only just and durable solution to the dispute.”

On the issue of Palestine, he said Pakistan continues to support the Palestinian cause and urged the international community to take immediate steps to protect Palestinian rights.
