Pumping station breakdown threatens Karachi water supply

KARACHI: The Dhabeji pumping station in Karachi experienced a power breakdown on Monday, impacting the city’s water supply.

The Dhabeji pumping station, responsible for distributing water throughout Karachi, suffered a power outage, potentially causing a water shortage for the city’s residents.

Water Corporation’s spokesperson revealed that the 72-inch diameter line, known as line number 5, was affected.

Water Corporation officials are currently on-site, conducting a thorough inspection to determine the root cause of the issue.

Bulkwater Corporation’s Chief Engineer confirmed ongoing efforts to restore the affected line, aiming to minimize any inconvenience caused by the water supply disruption.

In the interim, the city’s water supply has been redirected through alternative lines while repair work is underway on the affected line.
