LAHORE: The first batch of life-saving medicines has been sent from Punjab to Parachinar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The consignment of medicines was arranged under the supervision of Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir. The provincial Emergency Services Department specially sent an air ambulance to Parachinar.
These measures are part of the efforts to reduce the dearth of medicines in the Kurram district of Parachinar, which has been cut off from other districts since October 13.
Punjab Assembly member Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the Punjab government is providing all possible help to the people of Parachinar in this difficult time. “The Punjab government’s special air ambulance service will reach Parachinar soon with medicines,” he said.

APEX COMMITTEE ON KURRAM TO MEET TODAY
Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Advisor Barrister Saif announced that the apex committee on Kurram will meet today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Top civil and military leadership are expected to attend today’s meeting. It is also likely that a final decision will be taken in today’s meeting with regards to the Kurram situation.
The main road connecting Kurram to other districts has been shut down due to the resurgence of militancy in the region. As a result, there is a severe shortage of food, medicines, fuel and other essential goods in the region. Earlier, Edhi Foundation also brought medicines to the region. CM Gandapur’s helicopter is also being used to supply medicines and wheat to the region.
