Punjab CM’s late night ‘surprise visit’ to Nishtar hospital raises concerns

MULTAN: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi made an impromptu visit to Nishtar Hospital in Multan on Tuesday night to assess healthcare facilities.

During the visit, CM Naqvi expressed concern about patients being tested outside the hospital, which he found distressing. He also noted that the hospital’s practice of sourcing medicines externally was unsatisfactory.

Additionally, CM Naqvi suspended Medical Superintendent Dr Rao Amjad due to negligence and issued a stern warning to the Vice-Chancellor of Nishtar Medical University in response to mismanagement concerns.

In a separate incident, the chief minister accompanied by ministers and officials on Tuesday night, paid an unannounced visit to Mumtazabad Police Station in a bid to assess its operations.

During the inspection, the CM examined the station’s front desk and assessed the progress made in response to public requests. Furthermore, he issued directives for prompt communication with citizens regarding the status of their requests.
