LAHORE: In an effort to provide relief to the public amidst rising inflation, the Punjab government has reduced the price of roti (bread) by Rs4, setting the new price at Rs16 .
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Rafa Haider announced that the notification for the revised prices of roti and naan has been issued in Lahore.
According to the spokesperson for the Lahore deputy commissioner, the price of roti has been fixed at Rs16, while naan will be priced at Rs20. The new price will be immediately implemented across tandoors in the province.
Earlier, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the price of roti was set at Rs16. After a reduction of Rs4, roti now costs Rs16 across the province.

The chief minister directed officials to ensure the sale of roti at the fixed rate of Rs16 and also enforce the decision rigorously.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had issued similar instructions to reduce the price of roti after lowering the cost of wheat.
She had expressed hope that after the reduction in wheat prices, the cost of roti would also decrease.
On the other hand, following a decrease of Rs500 for a 20-kilogram bag of wheat, the price of flour has now dropped to Rs2,300 in Punjab.
As per Asim Raza, Chairman of the Pakistan Flour Mills Association, the reduction in wheat prices has directly impacted the cost of a 20-kilogram bag of flour.
Additionally, wheat arrivals have already begun in the mandis (wholesale markets) of Punjab, and further reductions of approximately Rs300 are expected in the price of a 20-kilogram bag of flour.
