LAHORE: Punjab Home Department has resumed the process of verification and computerisation of old manual arms licenses. The provincial government is offering the “last chance” to holders of the manual licenses to get their registrations on digital records.

Those in possession of older licenses in booklet forms will also be able to get their licenses verified and digitized. The Home Department has said that those seeking licenses or the verification of licenses can apply to the Commissioner of the concerned division or Additional Secretary Judicial.

The records and papers of all candidates will be verified.

Earlier, the cut-off date for computerisation of manual arms licenses was December 31, 2020. Manual licenses that were not registered until then were cancelled by the provincial government.

However, the government has now resumed the process to facilitate those who were unable to get their authentic arms licences computerised during the initial exercise.

UPDATED ARMS LICENCES VERIFICATION PROCEDURE

Under the new procedure as directed by the Punjab Home Department, only the Commissioner concerned or Additional Secretary Judicial Home Department will have the authority to verify and digitize arms licences.

A formal written order will be issued for verification, extension or computerisation of each individual arms licence.

After verification, the Commissioner concerned or Additional Secretary Judicial will issue licences to the eligible candidates.
