Punjab govt to reward top-performing students with cash prizes, scholarships

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to reward top-performing students across all educational boards in the province. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the initiative to honour these exceptional students.
In line with the Chief Minister’s directive, every student’s teacher will also receive a reward. Additionally, Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved scholarships for students, with the Punjab government covering all educational expenses for 25,000 students.
This initiative will see the government disburse over Rs150 billion annually to support these educational costs.
Under the Chief Minister’s guidance, a new transport programme for female students will be launched, with buses being provided to 60 girls’ colleges in the first phase.
Furthermore, the Punjab government has approved the establishment of IT hubs across all districts. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered immediate action for the setup of these hubs and has instructed necessary measures for the laptop scheme.
The Chief Minister chaired a special meeting which included Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Principal Secretary Sajid Zafar Dall, and Secretary Higher Education Dr Farukh Naveed.
